Franz Kafka "Jackals and Arabs"

Kafka “Jackals and Arabs” from jackal perspective humans (especially Arabs) are wasteful and dirty; power play

Who are the Jackals waiting for?  Waiting for messiah, deliverer—except in this world—brings not Peace but Blood, mass murder, cleanliness, revenge?

How does the Arab “control” the jackals?  Food, whip, the jackals desire for blood/nourishment?

What does it mean to be human in Kafka’s story?  Moral, good, upright, the crown of creation?  Power to impose human will?  Man and beast are brought together.  Jackal reflects Arab, Arab reflects Jackal—reflect European.  Is the European the “great white hope” for peace, cleanliness?  Kafka symbolically attacks European notions of superiority of culture
