Dodd, William: b.1792 in Union district, S.C.; married Nancy Griswold by whom he had 15 children. With his family he came to Cass in 1831, settling where Cass Station now is. His wife died there. While living there he gave the right of way for the W. & A. R.R. through his property. He removed to Spartanburg, S.C., after his wife’s death and while there married Judith Rhodes by whom he had 3 sons. He returned to Cass County in 1845 and settled near Fairmont. He and his wife are buried at Ryo. Two of these sons are yet living, T.J., 90 years of age, lives at Fairmont and Alec Dodd. The children of William Dodd identified with county history are: (1) Christopher Dodd, b. in 1818, helped to remove the Indians from the county in 1838, m. Sarah Lowry, daughter of David Lowry, lived and reared a large family near Euharlee died there in 1894. Their children were: Thomas W., was admitted to the Cartersville bar in Sept. ’66, died in Loredo, Tex.; Serena, a graduate of Cassville Female College, m. C.V. Gemes of Kingston by whom there T.V., Christopher of Kingston, Viola m. Frank Stephens, Fanny lives in Kingston; Warren A., m. Emma, daughter of Rev. Edmond Harling, represented the county in the legislature in 1913-14, farmer, Baptist, of 8 children Mamie, m. W.M. Dorsey, lives in Cartersville. (2) James H. , has three daughters living in the Iron Hill district, Mattie, Etta, Willie, a son, J.H., lives at Halls Station. A nephew of William Dodd, R. Hayne Dodd, a son of Jesse Dodd, was a rominent farmer on the Etowah River, near Kingston. He married Fannie Gore, who was a graduate of Cassville Female College, and they reared a family of boys prominently connected with the state.
